TREVOR MOAWAD WAS A RENOWNED MENTAL CONDITIONING EXPERT AND STRATEGIC ADVISOR TO SOME OF THE WORLD’S MOST ELITE PERFORMERS
“World’s Best Brain Trainer”
In 2017, Trevor was named the “Sports World’s Best Brain Trainer” by Sports Illustrated. From Ft. Bragg to Harvard Business School, from elite Quarterbacks to top-level CEOs. Moawad’s mission was clear – to motivate the motivated.
The consultants at Optimal Mental Performance have developed their framework based on years of tutelage under Trevor Moawad. Our goal is to carry on Trevor’s legacy and make sure his message is not lost.
Remembering Trevor
Moawad was well known for being the mental coach to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and had worked closely with prestigious NCAA Football programs and coaches, including Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Jimbo Fisher, and Mel Tucker. Moawad has been part of eight national championship games.
Additionally, Trevor supported elite teams and individuals in the MLB, NBA, NFL, NCAAF, and UFC as well as the U.S. Special Operations community. Over the course of his career some notable teams Trevor has worked with are: championship-winning teams at Alabama, Florida State, University of Georgia, major winning individuals in Golf and Tennis, medal-winning Olympic athletes, and seven NFL #1 overall draft picks.
Prior to starting his own mental conditioning company Moawad Consulting Group, Trevor held multiple roles as both Director of Mental Conditioning and Director of the multi-disciplined IMG Performance Institute (at the IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida). More recently, he was the Vice President of Pro/Elite Sports and Mindset at the prestigious Athletes Performance Institute (now EXOS in Phoenix, AZ).
Moawad was raised in Washington State and was the son of world-renowned peak performance educator, the late Bob Moawad. Bob was an original contributor to ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ and is the former President of the National Association for Self-Esteem.
TREVOR’S BOOKS
Moawad authored the Wall Street Journal Best Seller “It Takes What It Takes”. The book highlights how he transformed the lives and careers of elite athletes, business leaders, and military personnel, with battle-tested strategies that will give anyone the tools to manage and overcome negativity to achieve any goal. Before his passing Trevor and Staples completed a second book, “Getting to Neutral: How to Conquer Negativity and Thrive in a Chaotic World”. Getting to Neutral is filled with raw, inspiring stories of how Trevor navigated health challenges with neutral thinking as well as insights drawn from some of the world’s best athletes, coaches, and leaders.
Friend, Mentor, Thought Leader
I was fortunate to spend the last seven years with Trevor. He was a friend, mentor, and thought leader in the field of Mental Conditioning and Peak Performance. I first met Trev at IMG Academy in 2012 and was recruited to work with him at Exos in 2014. In 2015 Trevor formed Moawad Consulting Group, where I was the Director of Mental Conditioning, and Jonathan Schultz served as Director of Multimedia. Trevor’s resume speaks for itself as he worked with the nation’s elite in the Sports, Business, and Military space.
His connection to athletes and people was real. He spoke truths in times of adversity and didn’t preach positivity but Neutral Thinking – a concept developed with Chad Bohling while at IMG Academy. Neutral Thinking avoids negativity and puts our primary focus around the process and a plan, as opposed to saying it’s going to be okay, and not understanding the “why”. At Optimal Mental Performance, we strive to help clients understand the core concepts of peak performance and neutral thinking with the premise as Trev would say, “I don’t know if positive thinking works but I know negative thinking works negatively 100% of the time.”
Our goal is to carry on Trevor’s Legacy and make sure his message is not lost. He was a great friend who cared deeply about others. He wanted to make an impact on the world and was able to spread his philosophy in his two books. I will always cherish the memories and conversations we shared and while it’s a tremendous loss to lose him, his message will carry on. It’s our goal to ensure it’s the foundation of our principles.
